G'day World

Over the last few weeks, I have been looking for a catch phrase as an opener for Erk Pod. For a while I liked (and still do) the opener that "The Shebang" use on Triple M breakfast in Sydney. Marty and Fifi would say "Hello Marty, hello Fifi, hello Drewboy, hello Sydney" even if that meant saying hi to themselves. And with the massive Marty and Fifi billboards that are beside some train lines, I'd find myself thinking as I passed them: "hello Marty, hello Fifi, hello Sydney, hello Erk" and I actually used that on an episode or two of Erk Pod and it helps me get into podcast mode.

Also for many years I've liked John Laws' opener on 2UE here in Sydney which starts "Hello World". So I thought I'd combine the two and modify them for my opener and add an Australian feel to it. Lately I've been saying:

"G'day Erk Pod subscribers, g'day casual listeners, g'day friends. G'day interweb, g'day world." That covers everyone! Then last night, I was looking around for Australian podcasts that aren't produced as a result of being a radio or a TV show and I found The Podcast Network. I will be looking more into the TPN site for more podcasts but last night I found a podcast by the CEO of TPN, Cameron Reilly. The podcast? It's called "G'day World" of all things, one of the things I mention in my intro! Now obviously Cameron was here first when you look around the TPN site and his bio. There's a lot to read on TPN and if I find anymore podcasts that I like, I'd add them to my list.

I had a listen to G'day World last night and my first impressions are good. You'd almost be tempted to put the podcast in my Tech/Podcast link as well but I'll think about that when I've done more than listen to one episode.

Now, do I stop my intro at "G'day interweb" considering that the world is basically covered by the interweb anyway? Hmmmm........
