As you may be aware, I really like photography. However to be truthful, I had feelings that I lost my mojo after a HUGE 2006, mainly through following the Australian Rally Championship around. But after returning from Perth (Rally Australia) and Melbourne (Rally of Melbourne), I put down my exy camera and I haven't picked it up since.
Everyone needs a holiday! But having said that, I suffered a lot from CBF. A few months ago, I purchased a Nokia N95 complete with 5 megapixel camera. So instead of having to carry a phone and a camera, for simple stuff, the phone will do. In fact, the shots on this blog are from my phone.
So how did I get my mojo back?

It must have to do with being dressed in yellow and seeing BRT's (Big Red Trucks). Today, I had to take part in an exercise at Katoomba Airfield as a part of being an Aviation Radio Operator (ARO) for the Rural Fire Service. Since having done the ARO course in 2004, I had not had a chance to use these skills but today was an excellent refresher and in that regard, I do have my mojo back for that as well.
While my camera didn't handle the flying stuff too well (or the far away stuff), I did get some shots of stuff that didn't fly or wasn't too far away.
So in more than one way, it was a productive day. Not only did I get normal truck type photos (which is usually the bread and butter shots for me), I also got some arty shots (see left) as well as a photo journalism type shot (see next shot, taken during a team briefing.
Compared to previous efforts this might not seem like much at all but when you consider a lost mojo and a severe case of CBF (in more ways than one!), today was a massive step forward for me. It was good to see some BRT's and flying machines again and I don't think it will be the last time I'll see them this fire season.
