Erk gets irked and talks train overcrowding

Thanks to my mate BJ who spotted this headline before I did in the Terrorgraph and sent it to me the other day.

I always get a laugh when I hear/see "irk" or "irks me", especially when people have no knowledge of me because it sounds like they are talking about my nickname/alter ego.

As for over-crowding on trains which was the subject of the article, I do realise that it is a serious issue. I see it every day as a driver but unfortunately I am not in a position to do anything about it at the coalface.

However, I had to have a laugh the other day when I saw a news story on TV showing the overcrowding on trains. As I said, I do realise that it is a serious issue. But when I saw several pieces of footage shot on trains between stations with people standing in the aisle, I thought (and said out loud to a room full of drivers) that "no wonder there is overcrowding on trains when there are TV cameras and cameramen on the trains taking up heaps of room!"

Unfortunately I don't know if we will ever get to the point here in Sydney in peak hour where everyone who wants a seat will get one. That would be like expecting to drive home in your car from the centre of Sydney to where-ever in peak hour and expecting to drive at the speed limit the whole way.
