Karaoke with Erk - part 2

On Saturday 25 August, I had my birthday dinner/get together at the Penrith Hotel (aka the Top Pub). I could have had it at Hooters but Squeak had his there last month. I was thinking about having it on a houseboat but I didn't like the logistics involved. Then I thought of having it at the Paceway but it is Penrith Show weekend so I decided against it.

A good night was had by all who attended and dinner was nice. Afterwards there was karaoke and just like my previous occasion there a couple of weeks ago, there were a couple of ladies there who could really sing and a lot of people who got up and had a go anyway.

I sure did have a go, a big go! I did a couple of songs with the mic and a couple while using a wine bottle as a mic. Leigh and I had to struggle with doing the boxes, dots and dashes without the aid of a big TV, we could only use the one that the singer was using. Indeed when we did a couple of songs together (Age of Reason and What About Me) we did the boxes etc on air. During What About Me, we both left our spot in front of the screen and went to the audience "if they wanted us to or not" is what someone at our table (Amanda?) said!

I was lucky that I had a cordless mic but I had to remind Leigh that he had a corded mic. It would have been handy if the karaoke guy had a push button to wind Leigh in just like a vaccumn cleaner cord. Apart from the songs mentioned, I also did the YMCA (partly to get the crowd going, I think I did that OK) and Black Hole Sun but the smoke machine affected me for the latter. As usual, I did some harmonies which weren't on the screen but recognised by people listening.

In my last report I mentioned the karaoke bus and that was mentioned again and we remembered some of the guy's jokes.

Unlike the last couple of times I'd been out, I did get on the cans but I felt merry at best and I can remember everything about the night and didn't feel hungover (just tired) in the morning.
